So on the last Saturday of September the team was all about our Heritage Day menu and the specials that we feverishly knocked out. It is interesting that on days like that we really push the boat out and try to find dishes that incorporate our South African side and deliver something special to you that takes you on a short epicurean journey and explores a little heritage as well.

We decided that amongst other delectable treats a Rooibos refresher on arrival, koeksisters and a man-sized 650g fillet on the bone with a creamy brandy and pepper sauce all answered the call.rooibos
koeksisters Our Italian heritage allows us, even demands of us in some ways, to do what we do and to offer what we have to our customers. Our South African heritage connects us with our customers through our common joy and passion for food in great spaces celebrated with family and friends650g-fillet-on-the-bone. We worry a little, no too much, that this day has become the National Braai Day. Yes it is day to indulge in our favourite past time but is this what it is all about? Hey we are not judging just thinking a little. We spend a lot of time in front of our Josper Grill, a coal fired oven, attempting to create the perfect grill, so we are really connected to the coals and the spirit of our national pastime.

While we are on the subject we have to repeat this little gem,  “In South Africa we braai because BBQ is a chip flavour” Hahaha!!!  Yes that is really cheesy but hey…doesn’t that say a lot about where we come from!!

As we have spread our wings our own story has become a little diluted. But let it be said on this day that our restaurants have allowed us to share our family’s passion for food and wine with you our customers and friends and this reminds us that we are truly South African.
